DocuTRAK Imaging had a serendipitous beginning
when a representative for a yellow page advertising company faxed the wrong ad
copy to Richard Harris who, at the time, owned a scanning service center called
Document Imaging Solutions (DISC).
The
ad was really for faroutsoftware, owned by Ted Walkup and Carolyn McHorse.
Ted
and Carolyn had been developing custom business software for about five years
and Richard had been operating DISC for the same amount of time.
DISC had been using an enterprise level document imaging
product to scan, index, and produce CDs for their clients.
They had come to realize that the program was expensive and unwieldy for the business and its clients.
Richard
had been looking for another program and considering having one developed when
he was faxed faroutsoftware’s ad.
faroutsoftware had worked the technical side of document imaging and developed
a program called DocuTRAK Online which allowed businesses to collaborate and
share Word and Excel documents via the web.
The
three met and realized the potential for putting their talents together.
